MINUTES
Village of Poplar Board Meeting
April 14, 2009
Meeting was called to order by President Robert Bergsten at 7:05 p.m.
In attendance was Robert Bergsten, Doug Stanley, Rob Hursh, Randy Jones Jim
Tollas, Ken Clausen and Brian Stauty
Absent:
Treasurer
Clerk Lori Plummer
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
SPEAKERS: Clyde Hursh – requesting a building permit to add a porch to his
home. The board members told Mr. Hursh a building permit is not necessary.
Pat Grube – Mr. Grube has some estimates for exhaust systems for the fire truck and
the dump truck. $600.00 for Fire Truck and $190.00 for the dump truck. The board told
Mr. Pat to go ahead and get the exhaust fixed on both vehicles.
REPORTS:
Financial Report: General Village Account $ 85,551.75
Money Market Account $ 85.018.08
Clerk’s Report: none
OLD BUSINESS:
Approval of Minutes: A motion was made by Jim Tollas to accept the minutes
from the April meeting. The motion was seconded by Ken Clausen. Motion Carried.
Approval to pay Bills: A motion was made to pay the bills as presented by Doug
Stanley. The motion was seconded by Brian Stauty. Motion Carried.
OTHER OLD BUSINESS:
The board will get together at 5:30 before the next board meeting to look at the project
for the street between the hardware and the garage. They will also go over culvert
replacements before the next meting
Discussion regarding the signs that have been ordered – The signs need to be put up.
The Lions Club have purchased a locked enclosed billboard to install on the outside of
the hardware store. They will let the village use half of the billboard to post notices.
Discussion regarding Northland Foods and the pumping station. Northland foods
should be invited to the next meeting to hash out who will be responsible for what
regarding the pumping station.
Audit of Books – Lori will check with Swan at Lake Nebagamon to see who they use as
a auditor and how often they audit.
Wages – Leave as they are until a decision has been made regarding a treasurer.
Dump Days – Schedule for Saturday May 9th the day before Mother’s Day. Order 5
dumpsters – two garbage, one appliance, one computers/tv’s and one for tires.
Mr. Biffy – Lori will call and order a satallite for May15th to July 15th, 2009 for the little
league field.
Cemetery Mowing – A discussion regarding mowing of the cemetery. How much was
the total paid out last year for mowing. Audrey has all that information. The board
discussed having a contract with the mower with everything that the board wants done
or anything that is expected of the mower to be spelled out in the contract. Randy
Jones made a two part motion for making a list of independent contractors who are
interested in the cemetery mowing job and having it ready at the next board meeting to
make a final decision. Whomever would be applying for the position must have their
own equipment and proof of insurance. Rob Hursh seconded the motion. Motion
Carried.
President Bob Bergsten closed the meeting to the public at 8:15 pm to interview applicants for the treasurer’s position.

Doug Stanley made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Randy Jones. Motion Carried.
