February 9, 2010 Village Board Meeting
MINUTES
Village of Poplar Board Meeting
February 9th, 2010
The Board Meeting was called to order by President Robert Bergsten at 7:04 p.m.
In attendance were Robert Bergsten, Randy Jones, Jerald Swanson,
Doug Stanley, Jim Tollas and Ken Clausen
Absent: Brian Stauty
Treasurer Erikka Bergsten
Clerk Lori Plummer
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
SPEAKERS: Mark Liebaert – Mr. Mark gave a county report. Discussion
regarding valuations. There will be no county meeting in February.
Robert Elkins – discussion regarding reassessment. The village is currently at 83%.
Mr. Elkins suggested that the village wait until 2011 to reassess because of all the
changes expected in the near future. The board agreed to wait until 2011.
REPORTS:
Financial Report: General Village Account $ 47,596.14
Money Market Account $ 85,310.76
Clerk’s Report - none
OLD BUSINESS:
Approval of Minutes: A motion was made by Ken Clausen to accept the minutes.
The motion was seconded by Doug Stanley. Motion Carried.
Approval to pay Bills: A motion was made by Doug Stanley to pay the bills, the
motion was seconded by Randy Jones. Motion Carried.
OTHER OLD BUSINESS:
NEW BUSINESS: Erikka Bergsten would like the board to consider adding 1% interest to late payments on personal property taxes. The board discussed the interest and decided to have an ordinance ready to vote on at the next meeting.
Building Permit – Adam Landwehr is requesting a building permit to add an addition onto his home. A motion was made by Ken Clausen to issue a permit to Adam Landwehr; the motion was seconded by Jerald Swanson. Motion Carried.
Pat Grube – Mr. Grube representing the fire department is requesting money from the village to keep the fire department running. The board asked when he needed it by and he said he could wait until next month.
GIS Data Sharing Agreement – Randy Jones would like the village to sign an agreement with Douglas County to share data back and forth with the county at no charge. Doug Stanley made a motion to sign the data sharing agreement with Douglas County. The motion was seconded by Jim Tollas. Motion Carried.
ADJOURNMENT:
Brian Stauty made a motion to adjourn; the motion was seconded by Ken Clausen. Motion Carried.
