January 12, 2010

Meeting called to order at 6:04 pm by chairman Doug Stanley

In attendance were Doug Stanley, Bob Bergsten, Randy Jones and Jim Tollas
Absent
Operator Brad Nelson
Clerk Lori Plummer

SPEAKERS:

OPERATOR’S REPORT: Brad Nelson reported that the numbers are all OK. We will be getting a passing grade this year from the DNR. We must have 8 out of 12 months with no accedences and we have done that. There were some problems at the Hansen’s house. All of the wires on their control panel were eaten off and gas got into the panel. A new panel has been put in. We will need to check the other control panels this spring. Everything at this point is working well.

FINANCIAL REPORT: Operation and maintenance $ -3,617.17
Sewer Cash Reserve $ 35,423.34
Debt Service $ 18,301.40
Sewer Equipment and Repair $ 547.70

CLERK’S REPORT: none

OLD BUSINESS: Bobula’s request for financial relief for his sewer extension – After some discussion Randy Jones made a motion to credit the Bobula’s the $1,500.00 hook-up fee. The motion was not seconded and could not be voted on.

Sewer Rate Adjustment – After some discussion the commission made a decision to raise residential rates from 46.50 to 47.50. After reevaluating the sewer rates at Mission Covenant Church a decision was made to double their sewer rate because of all the expansion and activities going on daily at the church. A decision was also made to raise Barnyard Buddies rate to $95.00 per month.

Report on 154 grant progress – Doug Stanley reported that as soon as the easements are turned into the Core we will be into the construction phase when all the money will be available.

Discussion regarding the low sewer rate for the schools. The gallonage being reported is so low that the commission believes there is a problem with the meter or some other reason the gallons have dropped so much. Lori will get together all the previous billings for the school and Doug Stanley will bring it up at his meeting with Paul Staffrud at the end of January.

Approval of Minutes: Bob Bergsten made a motion to accept the minutes. The motion was seconded by Randy Jones. Motion Carried

Payment of Bills: A motion was made by Bob Bergsten to pay the bills. The motion was seconded by Jim Tollas. Motion Carried.

OTHER OLD BUSINESS:

NEW BUSINESS:

Contents for a Sewer Packet for new connections – Should include statement that Rob Leitha cannot inspect the sewer connection without the sewer commissions approval and OK that an application has been completed and all fees have been paid. There should also be approval from the village board. The applicant should have checked into zoning and wet lands before any permits are issued. The commissioners decided that they will all make a list of what they would like to see in the packet and then they will start assembling the package.

ADJOURN: Bob Bergsten made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Jim Tollas seconded the motion. Motion Carried. Meeting was adjourned at 7:00 pm.
