MINUTES
Village of Poplar Board Meeting
October 13, 2009
Public Hearing For Anyone Wanting To Comment On Or Adjust The Proposed Budget For 2010. The public hearing was called to order by president Bob Bergsten at 7:00 pm. There were no persons in attendance to comment on or question the proposed budget. A motion was made by trustee Randy Jones to adjourn the public hearing at 7:15 pm. The motion was seconded by trustee Brian Stauty. Motion Carried.
The regular Board Meeting was called to order by President Robert Bergsten at 7:15p.m.
In attendance were Robert Bergsten, Randy Jones, Brian Stauty and Jerald Swanson
Absent: Doug Stanley, Jim Tollas and Ken Clausen
Treasurer Erikka Bergsten
Clerk Lori Plummer
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
SPEAKERS:
Mark Liebaert – Mr. Liebaert gave a report on the Douglas County budget, the
elimination of positions, wood sales and trail closings.
Milt Olson - Milt Olson would like to get started on the development. Milt has offered
$1,000.00 to the village to purchase the one acre of village property involved in the land
he plans on developing with a stipulation that he would be responsible for the 3 wells
that are currently on the property. The board stated that they would want to get the
property appraised.
Clerk’s Report - none
REPORTS:
Financial Report: General Village Account $ 94,397.27
Money Market Account $ 85,192.99
OLD BUSINESS:
Approval of Minutes: A motion was made by Brian Stauty to accept the minutes
from the August meeting. The motion was seconded by Randy Jones. Motion Carried.
Approval to pay Bills: A motion was made by Brian Stauty to pay the bills, the
motion was seconded by Jerald Swanson. Motion Carried.
OTHER OLD BUSINESS:
Financial Report from the Fire Department – Pat Grube did not realize the board still
needed a financial report from the fire department. Mr. Grube will see that the board
receives the financial report.
Fire Inspections for Businesses – Pat Grube stated that the Fire Dept. is working on
the inspections.
Dean Olson’s Road Repair – Deans road will be fixed when the road construction
begins this year.
Bobula Sewer Connection – Randy Jones explained what the Bobula’s would like to do regarding connection to the sewer. After some discussion the board would like Mr. Bobula to attend the next sewer meeting so the sewer commission could get more details from the plumber who is working with the Bobula’s.
ADJOURNMENT:
The regular board meeting was adjourned at 8:00.
Randy Jones made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Jerald Swanson. Motion Carried.
